The Man Behind Guardado Construction
Kenis Guardado’s story began in El Salvador, where he started working in construction at only 14 years old as a mason. From a young age, he learned the value of discipline, responsibility, and hard work through long days on construction sites.
At just 15 years old, Kenis made his first major sacrifice — leaving El Salvador and moving to Belize in search of better opportunities, where he continued working in construction for a year. At 16, he returned to El Salvador and became a construction foreman, taking on leadership responsibilities at an age when most young people were still discovering their future.
At 19 years old, Kenis took the biggest risk of his life and immigrated to the United States with little more than experience, determination, and a strong work ethic. He arrived in San Francisco, California, where he continued working in construction before relocating to the DMV area. After moving to Maryland, Kenis worked at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport while pursuing opportunities in construction. Over the years, he worked for multiple construction companies throughout the DMV area, gaining experience in concrete finishing, carpentry, foundations, and structural construction. Through hard work and perseverance, he earned a reputation for reliability, craftsmanship, and dedication.
ut Kenis's journey toward building his own company was far from easy.
At one point, he was offered the opportunity to become an independent subcontractor. The only problem was that he did not own the tools or equipment needed to start. Instead of letting fear stop him, Kenis took the risk. Believing in his determination and work ethic, he was given the opportunity to obtain the tools he needed and pay for them over time.
That moment became a turning point.
What started with sacrifice, courage, and a willingness to take chances became the foundation of something greater. Kenis spent the next 10 years as a subcontractor, building relationships, earning trust, and establishing a reputation for dependable, high-quality work throughout the region.
